Organize, Prepare, Operate, Evolve
The Operational Excellence pillar of cloud computing is often the most abstracted, because it relates to broadly supporting your business operations as a whole.
In other words, the operational excellence pillar includes how your organization supports your business objectives, your ability to run workloads effectively, gain insight into their operations, and to continuously improve supporting processes and procedures to deliver business value.
In the OE pillar, there are four best practice areas, with six design principles in each domain.
Best practices:
- Organization — Understand your organization’s structure and priorities, so you can best support your team members and in turn they provide optimal business outcomes.
- Prepare — Understand your workloads and their expected behaviors, and subsequently build procedures to support them.
- Operate — Achievement of optimal business outcomes you define, and knowing what the ongoing risks to them are.
- Evolve — Implementing a continuous cycle of improvement over time via small, incremental changes from lessons learned during your operational activities.
