- Github can combine private repositories, MFA, secret scanning, and HTTPS/TLS (amongst other things) for security both in transit and at rest of your source code.

- Manually create the secret and store it where? The SDK is not designed to store secrets, rather it is designed to interact with other AWS services used for specific purposes (like secrets manager for handling secrets, for example).
