New year, new me! Or so they say.

I’ve always found the traditional New Years resolutions as a placebo and to be honest a waste of time. Here are some statistics on just how successful the average population is with completing their new years resolutions:

  • 23% of people quit in the first week
  • 36% quit within the first month
  • 9% of people successfully see it through to the end of year

91% of people give up on their new years resolutions

which to me, says 1 of 2 things:

  1. People don’t really want something as much as they think they do
  2. People don’t want to put in the work to consistently do something

I know for a fact that this morning, somebody slept in when they said they were going to start getting up early to “get in shape”. So if you have not given up yet, congratulations!

I prefer to do an evaluation and continuation of what I have been doing over the past year. This allows me to see what I have done well that contributed to my life, and find a way to implement more of it moving forward.

Practicing Kaizen in all things. Being a dad is pretty neat too.
