A COVID story

Well after 2.5 years, I finally got covid (and it whooped my ass for 2 days). I’m actually surprised I didn’t get it sooner with all the martial arts I do, which would be 6–10 hours a week of extremely close and personal contact with other people.

I suppose I was not one of the lucky people who just get it and are done with it with little to no symptoms, I was certainly out of commission for a few days with headaches, body aches, fever, all the good stuff.

However I’m not here to talk about covid, we have all heard more than we want to hear about it over the past few years. What I noticed though through self-awareness and observation is how much I take my health for granted when I am not sick.

As I was laid up on the couch I couldn’t help but think things like “Why can’t I just make myself go get some tylenol real quick, I know it will help me”. But any kind of movement felt like a herculean effort. Not to mention that walking around and not being under a blanket led me to have severe chills that had me walking like Quasimodo from the hunchback of Notre Dame.
